'_gat' is undefined 2009/02/06 16:46 Karma: 0
Hello, thanks for the great module!

I'm getting the following error on my site:
'_gat' is undefined

Any ideas on how to fix that?

Thanks!

Can you give me a web address to see this error as I can't generate it here. I'm not sure I can fix this as the Google Analytics code is what uses the _gat, not my module.

Nick.

www.radisonhouse.com is the web page which generates this error on Vista operating system + Internet Explorer 7.

As I was still unable to generate the error under Firefox, IE7 and IE7 x64 I did some searching and found it is due to the ga.js file not loading before it is called. This is most likely due to a slow web server or more likely a slow user connection on your part. The solution seems to be simple to implement, just applying a simple wait command before the code is called. I will add to the next version of JoomlaGATor! an option to set a 500ms (1/2 second) delay before the tracking script is called to give users on slow connections a chance to grab the file first. In the meantime, all this means is that the first visit to your site won't be recorded but it will on future visits/other pages on the site as the ga.js will by then be downloaded.

Update: This has been fixed using Google's updated recommendation to implement a try/catch method on the code. This should no longer cause a problem. If it does let me know here and I'll add the time delay feature in.

I haven't updated the module yet, it'll be a day or two before it's tested fully and released.
